This weekend, I'm attending a big family event. My cousin's triplets are 13 and it's what we call a B'nai Mitzvah. In a Bar Mitzvah, the boy of 13 is called to read from the Torah Scroll. If it is a girl, the ceremony is called a Bat Mitzvah. If there are more than one children participating in the ceremony, the term is called a B'nai Mitzvah. It's a tradition for the whole family to gather together this rite of passage into religious adulthood. There's usually a big party and family gatherings all weekend long. Along with the work of preparation for the religious service come a shower of gifts, money to add to the funds of a future education. So, Ian, Isabella & Dean, a toast to your future successes!
