My card this
year is celebrates the hope of the autumn harvest of sweet apples and wishes
you the traditional greeting of a “Sweet New Year.” The Jewish New Year always falls sometime
during early Autumn, usually mid-September or early, early October, variable
dates, as we follow a lunar calendar. This year it
falls on September 10th. It
is a solemn holiday of prayers for thanks, renewal, hope and peace followed 10
days later by our Fast of Atonement or Yom Kippur, where we pray for forgiveness
for the wrongs we have done individually and collectively as part humanity. Most of the traditional foods we eat include
the sweetness of apples, honey & spices like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg &
ginger. We also traditionally dip apple
slices into honey and wishing each other that “Sweet New Year.” I used the
